Workshop on Leadership - Speaker: Jennifer Witheriff
The Women in Economics Network will host a Workshop on Leadership with Jennifer Witheriff
(MBA (USQ), Grad Dip OH&S (QUT), RN Cert (PAH)
“People decide how competent you are in a fraction of a second
and how you ‘show up’ is a critical tool in your influencing kit.”
Jennifer, a highly regarded executive and career coach, is Director and Co-owner of GJR Consulting, an Australian company specializing in organisational and leadership development, executive coaching, training and facilitation. Her areas of interest include adaptive leadership, influencing styles and change. She is particularly interested in women’s leadership development.
Jennifer has been awarded the UQ Vice Chancellor Award for Excellence for the delivery of the highly successful University of Queensland Career Progression for Women program, and has recently returned from JF Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, where she undertook an intensive program for leadership development facilitators entitled The Art and Practice of Leadership Development.
In this training session, we will discuss the factors that are used to determine competence: what you say, how you say it and what your body is conveying. Drawing from the work of Professor Deborah Gruenfeld, Stanford Graduate School of Business, participants will explore when and how to use different power styles to influence, depending on their goal and situation.
Please note that this training session is designed for women who have already begun their careers and is suited to both junior and senior economists. It is tailored to small groups and will be capped at 30 attendees.
