Date
From: Friday March 7, 2014, 12:00 pm
To: Friday March 7, 2014, 1:30 pm
The Economic Society of Australia (QLD) invites you to a lecture (and light lunch) featuring University of Canberra Associate Professor, Cameron Gordon speaking about the economic impacts of Professional Trucking Certification in the EU as well as Australia. In 2003 the EU initiated a measure to implement Certification of Professional Competence (CPC) for professional truck drivers by 2014. No cost/benefit analysis was undertaken when this measure was adopted. Associate Professor Gordon will examine the costs associated with certification to better understand how a similar measure could impact trucking in Australia. To register your interest contact our Secretariat and/or see the attached flyer.
Opportunity to consider Australia's 'Prospects for High Speed Rail' Last October Associate Professor Gordon presented a session concerning the Prospects for High Speed Rail to an ESA audience in Brisbane. On Thursday, 6 March he will present an update of this work to the Railway Technical Society of Australia (RTSA), a part of Engineers Australia and IPENZ. The lecture is being sponsored by RTSA and organised in association with ESA Queensland. It is a free event for both RTSA and ESA Members. If you missed this lecture in October, don't miss it now.
