2032 Brisbane Olympics Economic Impacts Seminar

Date

From: Friday September 9, 2022, 12:15 pm

To: Friday September 9, 2022, 2:00 pm

This seminar will explore the potential economic impacts of the 2032 Brisbane Olympics – the opportunities, the traps to avoid, and the lessons learnt from previous host cities such as München, Sydney and London.  With only ten years to the 2032 Brisbane Olympics, it is critical that these opportunities and risks are carefully managed by our Federal, State and Local Governments to ensure that South East Queensland achieves the maximum benefits from hosting the Games.  A key reference for the Seminar is the February 2022 Knight Frank Research Insight Paper, “Brisbane’s Accelerated Development: How The 2032 Olympics and Cross River Rail Will Shape The Future Of Brisbane”.

Keynote speakers for the Seminar are:

Ms Jennelle Wilson, who is a Partner at Knight Frank and has more than 25 years of experience in the research, forecasting and analysis of the property market, focussed on Queensland. Jennelle has been with Knight Frank since 2006 and is responsible for providing market intelligence, interpreting market direction, and providing targeted advice to market operators and major clients. Jennelle is a Fellow of The Financial Services Institute of Australia and a Member of the Australian Property Institute; and

Councillor Ryan Murphy, who is the Civic Cabinet Chair for Transport and the Councillor for Chandler Ward in the Brisbane City Council. Ryan oversees a number of Council’s major projects including the $1.24 Billion Brisbane Metro and $550 million Green Bridges program, as well as Brisbane’s bus, ferry and CityCat fleet. He is responsible for the Transport for Brisbane network which carries 78 million passengers annually. Ryan holds a Bachelor of Arts with a Double Major in Political Science (UQ) and is currently completing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with the University of Queensland.

MC for the Seminar will be Mr Adrian Noon, Chairman/Principal of Lanoon, a boutique economics strategic advisory firm specialising in the mining, energy, transport, and regulatory fields since 2012.

We aim to conclude the Seminar by 2pm.
