THE ECONOMIC SOCIETY OF AUSTRALIA TURNS 100
Join us for our Centenary Celebration of ESA Queensland with a dinner featuring a intergenerational panel of QLD ‘state of origin’ economists
Karen Chester, Peter Harris AO & Associate Professor Leonora Risse
ESA QLD life member Jon Stanford recently unearthed that November 2024 is the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Australia’s very first ESA branch. And yes, it had to be in Queensland.
ESA Members and your guests are invited to our Centenary Celebration Dinner for the Economics Society of Australia (QLD).
When: Thursday 12 December, from 5.30 pm for pre-dinner drinks
Where: Ship Inn function Centre, Sidon St, South Brisbane
The dinner will feature a speech from Karen Chester, former Deputy Chair of the Productivity Commission and ASIC. Karen’s short speech will be followed by a panel representing three generations of QLD grown economists to discuss the big intergenerational public policy issues and how to tackle them with economics & more.
The panel will include Karen and other leading economists hailing from Queensland:
- Peter Harris AO, former Chair of the Productivity Commission and adviser to Prime Minister Bob Hawke; and
- Leonora Risse, Associate Professor at the University of Canberra and co-founding member of Australia’s Women in Economics Network
Tickets: $75 for members and guests, $100 for non-members
